lovely piece of writing. am really glad you are sharing this. you drip mood into little spaces between the mundane actions of the characters – like “I tried to enjoy it . . . “

I’ve been working with you for some time now vis-a-vis the webfiction guide, but I never thought of you as a writer.

You have marvelous powers, and I can tell by the meticulous attention you give to your craft, we are similar in temprament. 

Your short story affected me greatly.  Every word, every phrase heightens the sombre, mist-laden atmosphere, and the quiet action between two friend parting.  The prose has a deliberate rhythm, which does not hurry but proceeds from detail to detail.  The prose is unassuming, unpretentious and extremely powerful in quiet places . . .  such as here:

“But it was so hard.”

The literary quality to your writing is remarkable.  You build a whole story around a simple scene and yet leave room for endless speculation.  Who are these friends?  How do they know each other?  What time period is this?

But the questions go best unaswered and you, the savvy writer you are, leave them that way.
