I really like the concept, and I'm looking forward to more installments.

Usually I can't stand present tense, but you make it work.

As for the change of pace, I was/am a little worried that it more reflected my mood last night, than Tiergan's. Again, that may be something I have to get used to, writing every day. Time will tell, I guess.

I considered "paws" for a long time. Decided it sounded too cute for the story. Won't be the last time such tradeoffs come up, I'm sure.

Shouldn’t “feet” be “paws”?

I like how this part is a nice change of pace after some of the dialogue heavy installments.
